Linux Systems Architect

Arraya Solutions is looking for a Linux Systems Architect to join our Managed Services team.  This individual will be responsible for providing technical support assistance for Customers, with a primary focus on Unix/Linux technologies.

They will lead Managed Services Team members, working directly with Customers, to develop, configure, operate, and maintain enterprise Linux environments.  They will assist in incident/problem remediation and provide technical escalation for unresolved issues.  They will drive the enablement of new workloads in coordination with other Managed Services teams and participate throughout the Customer engagement lifecycle.


  • Implement and manage Enterprise Linux environments, including RedHat Enterprise Linux, Oracle Enterprise Linux, and Ubuntu
  • Deploy and manage IBM AIX-based solutions
  • Develop and execute implementation strategies for system upgrades
  • Utilize enterprise automation tools such as Ansible, Puppet and RedHat Satellite to manage enterprise Linux environments
  • Perform performance monitoring and tuning of enterprise Linux environments
  • Leverage VMware vSphere to deploy and manage virtual machine infrastructure
  • Deploy and manage physical server hardware, including IBM Power System and Cisco Unified Computing System (UCS)
  • Lead design discussions and develop implementation strategies following OEM best practices as well as customer requirements
  • Troubleshoot environmental issues within the enterprise Linux environment and extending into virtualization, storage and physical server infrastructure
  • Work with security teams to analyze vulnerability reporting and lead remediation efforts for affected systems
  • Monitor and remediate Data Protection Solutions and lead yearly Disaster Recovery testing for Linux systems
  • Mentor fellow Linux Engineers in development and deployment of solutions
  • Support operational standards for managing Customer environments and workloads
  • Capture, document and transfer knowledge of Customer environments
  • Support Customer onboarding and offboarding
  • Train and certify on supported technologies

Desired Attributes

  • 10+ years of expert knowledge of Unix/Linux-based Systems including RHEL, OEL and Ubuntu
  • 10+ years of experience implementing AIX based solutions
  • 5+ years of experience managing Enterprise Data Protection including backup and DR solutions
  • 5+ years managing physical and virtual infrastructure
  • 3+ years of experience adopting, designing and implementing DevOps tools with strong scripting abilities
  • Demonstrated ability to support systems and troubleshoot problems remotely
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and collaborate with other team members
  • Demonstrated ability to manage workload and make productive use of time
  • Experience managing incidents and problems in one or more enterprise class ITSM platforms (ServiceNow, BMC Remedy, SolarWinds, ManageEngine, Kaseya)
  • Experience with network/cloud monitoring tools, technologies and processes
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and Customer-facing skills
  • A desire to learn other emerging technologies and skills

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

  • This is a full-time position, (40) hours/week (minimum 3 days/week in the office)
  • A possibility of off-hours support work
  • Infrequent travel to Customer sites regionally
