Arraya Solutions announced today it has been recognized by UBM Tech Channel as part of CRN’s 2013 Solution Provider 500 List, which identifies the top technology integrators in the U.S.A. and Canada based on revenue size. Formerly known as the “VAR 500”, the Solution Provider 500 (SP500) ranks the highest producing solution provider organizations in the IT channel from hardware sales, software sales, and managed IT services.

So far, so good out here in Vegas for VMware’s Partner Exchange. Here is some of the insight I’ve gained thus far…

While a lot of the sessions we’ve attended include NDA materials regarding future product releases that we can’t discuss publicly, the training boot camps have given me the ability to add some significant enhancements to Arraya’s in-house demo lab:

  • vCloud Automation Center 5.1
  • vCloud Director integration with vCenter Operations Manager 

vCloud Automation Center (vCAC), part of VMware’s vCloud Suite, provides automated provisioning and management of cloud resources in our vCloud Director environment. Users can request virtual machines based on a pre-defined service catalog which are automatically provisioned once approved by an administrator. The Office suite of products is one of, if not the most, widely used document creation and communication platforms on the desktop in the world. In fact, during the first year of availability Office 2010 sold more than 100 million copies. Over 750 million users have a version of the Office suite in use on their desktop or laptop pc. As of June 2012, the internet usage statics site estimates that about 2.4 billion users are on the internet. With just over 7 billion people on our planet, that is about 34% of the humans on earth using the internet. If an estimated 750 million copies of Office are installed, that equates to about one third of the users on the internet. With that being said, think about how many copies of the Office suite are installed across the enterprise where Windows and Office have reigned supreme for so long! What is EMC Avamar?

It’s hard to believe VMworld was already two weeks ago. As always, the event was loaded with opportunities to meet new people, learn something, meet up with old acquaintances, and catch a little Bon Jovi. It was hard to escape the focus on cloud computing with all of the recent acquisitions and the release of the vCloud suites. VMware has again set the stage for another revolution in the data center.
