ARRAYA'S ALLSTARS

What's one skill that you've improved in the last year? How did you do it?

I improved my skills in bike racing, both road and off road (cyclocross). For road racing, I primarily do criteriums, which is typically a mile long course located on city streets or an office park, with 4-6 corners and fast paced. I worked with a coach on practicing my cornering skills and sprinting skills, and then practiced those skills every chance I got. I worked on making myself uncomfortable during practice so that during the race I would be more comfortable with the high speeds, close proximity of other racers, and sprint finishes. It paid off and I got on some podiums last year!

What's the best piece of advice you've received?

I once heard on a podcast I think, the phrase “follow your heart not your fears." A simple phrase, but it was very impactful to me. I believe that all too many times we don’t do something because we are afraid, or doubtful of the outcome. But instead of focusing on the fears and doubts, putting the focus on what your heart is telling you can make all the difference in doing something that you really want. When I think about what I want to do, bike racing or a new project, my head may be telling me all the reasons why that won’t work (fears), but if I switch the focus to my heart telling me how much I want it and the potential joy, I can usually quiet those fears and move forward.

What's a part of your job that you particularly enjoy?

I enjoy working with my team, Inside Sales! Jenny, Ashley, and I have been working together for many years, forming a tight bond. We support each other fully and under Jenny’s strong leadership, I feel that we have become more cohesive. We collaborate smoothly, communicate effectively, respect each other’s ideas, and tackle challenges as a team. I feel that there is no work challenge we can’t overcome.

Outside of work, what activity makes you lose track of time?

I enjoy walking in the park nearby our house. There is a river that runs through it so you can definitely lose track of time while enjoying the beautiful scenery and sounds of the river flowing over rocks and through bends. There are tons of birds and other wildlife to watch such as squirrels, deer, and ground hogs.
